Default What would you do?

I'm making a quilt for my sister. It is her birthday present from our mom and me. (My mom bought all of the fabric, batting, thread, and I'm doing all of the sewing.) When we bought the fabric, we got all of the fabric except for the border and backing fabrics. Last week my mom was going to see my sister and I asked if they could pick out fabric for the border and back. I gave them my recommendations and sent pictures of the quilt in progress. They picked out a white for the border and honestly, I don't like it and don't know how it will turn out. I don't know what to do because I don't want to offend them by not using the fabric and I don't have an alternative fabric. Do I just use the fabric and hope for the best? Or should I find something else? The town I'm in doesn't have a quilt shop besides JoAnn and there isn't anything I like there....

If they know it will be white...maybe they will be ok with it. White seems to be really popular in quilts right now. Could you send them a pic with a block on the white fabric for them to ok what it would look like with a white boarder?

If that is what they picked out, and your Mother knew what the rest of the fabrics looked like, then it is her quilt and her choice, use it.

I would use what they picked out since they had a picture and your recommendations prior to making their choice of fabric.

I agree with everone else, just use it. Why stress over the fact you don't like it and remember they picked it out so they must like it.

Thanks. This is what I need to hear.

About adding things: I'm still a newbie when it comes to making quilts, so this isn't really an option. I have no idea what I am going to do as far as quilting since I've never actually done it. I'll attempt a SID and hope it turns out!

Just adding in I agree with the other replies...I also wanted to say that for a newbie quilter, instead of sid, I sometimes have done straight line quilting about 1/8" away from the ditch (seam)...that way if it is not exactly in the ditch it isn't as noticeable, and actually I just like the look of it, to me it just adds some dimension, and it is super easy to do...hope you post a pic of it when you are done, and I am sure it will turn out lovely.
Regards,
Kif
