    Default what would you do

My sister sent me a yard of beautiful orange/red silk from a silk factory in china when she went on a trip to china. What would you do with it. Do not think it would be practical in a quilt. Any sugestions?

first off, I would pet it and let it know how wonderful it is. Then, do you wear scarves? what size is it? would it make a nice pillow cover for a couch? or a top for you?

Does Sis have any expectations of what you will do with this?

If not, I'll go with petting it, making a pillowcase for yourself, make a small item such as a wallet or Kindle cover.

Or trim on your favorite purse pattern.

just set it aside- and enjoy it until the perfect project appears---sooner or later something will come along and the second you see it you will know---that's what i want to use my silk for!
i have used silk in many quilts- not sure why you would be aposed to that- but to each their own.

Depending on the fabric, a scarf sounds lovely. I would just do a rolled hem all around and fold to a triangle shape to wear. If it is a piece with an elaborate scene on it, perhaps a wall hanging. I'm with nycquilter and I would pet it for a while.

I agree with the others. Just pet it and look at it for awhile. You will have a "Ah Ha" moment one day and you'll know what you want to do with it. Good luck and let us know what you decide in the next few years. LOL.

Well yeah I agree with the others .. pet it

I also agree that there is no reason not to use it in a quilt, however ... I think another shopping trip is in order to buy MORE SILK to pair it with - then pick a nice Kaffe Fassett pattern and away you go!

A scarf sounds great. I'd make 2. One for me and one for sis.
