hand sew or machine???
The postage stamp quilt. Is it better to hand sew like the English paper technique or do you machine piece the squares. Has anyone made one and what do you prefer?

If you are talking about sewing individual squares together, then I would probably opt for hand piecing. However, I definitely would not use the English paper technique for this; I would simply use a running stitch to sew the squares together.
It would be considerably faster to machine sew strips together first, then cut and machine sew together some more.
I started one several decades ago before I knew much of anything about quilting, hand sewing squares together. I started in one corner. Not quite sure what I did wrong, but when it got larger I realized that it was no longer square. Still have that huge wonky triangle stored somewhere in the house.........

Thanks, they are precut squares been receiving from the swap exchanges on here they measure 1.5 before sewn. I started machine peicing them so far turning out well, but was unsure if hand would go faster lol.

I hand piece. My DH machine pieces. He has done 4 postage stamp quilts. I have only done 1/2 of one. But, those small pieces are hard for me to hold onto. It would be a good project to carry with you. You could make blocks and then put them all together when you got enough done. Good luck on your project!
