For me, it's the actual sewing of the blocks -- after I get into a rhythm of how each block goes together. I'm the kind of sewist who likes to make one part of each block after the other, then go on to another part, etc., before putting the block together.....that is, after I make a test block to see how it works for me.

I love it all the way up to sandwiching the quilt. Then once I get over sandwiching and quilting. I'm an overall quilter, I like putting the binding on. I enjoy hand stitching down the back and finishing it.

I like shopping for the fabric once I've decided what I'm going to do. Also I like sewing the blocks.

Every quilt is different for me. Sometimes it's choosing the fabrics, the thrill of knowing I found the perfect fabrics. Often, it's finishing the final block and knowing that the assembly of the quilt comes next. If I know what I want to quilt, the quilting is my favorite part. There's always a little thrill when I'v finished the binding and it's complete.

By far, my favorite part, though, is seeing a quilt i've made in use. When I go to my sister's home and see my neice's quilt on her bed... or see that my sister cuddles in her quilt in front of the tv every night..Or seeing a baby quilt that's clearly been laundered plenty and is being used... That's the best part!

I enjoy the cutting and piecing and of course the quilting; but it's the planning process that I really, really enjoy. Looking for the perfect pattern; then going through my stash to see if I have enough fabrics to make it or if I need to go shopping.

My favorite is finishing it and gifting it.

Other than the inevitable ripping out seams(!), I enjoy all parts from deciding on what to make, the fabric choices, cutting, sewing, etc. But, without a doubt, my favorite part is when I give it to someone or sell it to someone. The idea that someone is going to enjoy something I made is what keeps my juices flowing.

I like piecing and seeing the block come together. I like all of it - but the scary part is quilting the quilt as I'm not experienced with that. I have to jump in and just do a Civil War quilt and quilt it and not be scared (but I'm struggling). It's a layer cake with all the blocks - about a twin or bigger size.

I like when I get motivated and on a roll. Doesn't matter what part. The beginning works for me.
