I love kits as I have trouble picking out fabrics that go together well. I've only had trouble with 1 quilt kits, I got too much of 1 fabric & not enough of another. I spent months searching for the correct fabric, as the store had run out by the time I made the top.

I have bought several from CT and have been very pleased. Ample fabric and the fabrics are really nice to work with. In fact I just cut one last weekend

I dont buy kits, I have found it was better for my budget if I just got the pattern, and bought my own fabric.

Connecting Threads has really nice kits and the fabric is great. All you need is the fabric for backing. I have always been happy with connecting treads.

I only use quilt kits. (I spend days figuring out the fabric.)Sometimes I change the pattern around. I have bought numerous kits from Connecting Threads and Keepsake Quilting, and always have plenty of leftover fabric and love their fabric. Someday some lucky person will receive my scraps. I also love doing block of the months and the Patchwork Parties. Here is one completed and I do all my own quilting.

A friend of mine uses kits almost exclusively. She says she is not good at picking fabric. She has ordered from Connecting Thread and has been happy with the kit. Also gets kits from quilt show vendors and shops we go to.

My opinion is that they are expensive. I've never purchased one.
