Do you tend to use a particular color or colors? Which ones?

Or do you use fabrics with a riot of colors?

Or is the back a sort of patchwork, too?

I always incorporate some of the fabric from the front into the backing.

I usually use muslin on the back of my big quilts, for smaller stuff i use something that matches.

I coordinate with the front, but use different fabrics.

I try to coordinate fabric with front. I do like to use wide backings on my big qauilts, don't like piecing. Sometimes on small quilts I use the same fabric as top, sometimes I piece scraps from front. Wall hangings and table runners where back will not really be seen, anything goes.

I am not really picky about backs. Often I use a plain color coordinated fabric. FMQ add shows up nicely on a plain back and adds pattern to the back.

Sometimes I will use a nice flat sheet.I have an outlet near me that you can buy 400 thread count sheets and they are sold seperately so I only buy the flat queen or king size and they are about $10.00 or so. I will pick a color from the front of the quilt to match. Someone told me that Target sells sheets seperately too and they have lots of colors for about $10.00 to $15.00. But my Ann and Hope outlet works for me.

I use muslin. Quilts are used on the beds here - so nothing fancy on the backs, and muslin seems more economical when $$ is tight. I'd love to do one with a flannel back though!
