I like it too ... I might randomly add small butterfly appliques to the 'Sue' blocks and go with a dark purple border, maybe

If you don't like the yellow/gold you might not want to add more. Also quilting is a lot of interpretation, and if the bonnets are that for you, then it is fine. I would quilt it, bind it, and save your changes for the next one. I like It!

I think a yellow binding would to the trick.

Helllo again. I found the drunkards path block and have made a mock-up of a border you could make using the yellow and the bonnet color to frame the quilt.

border possibility for sbsquilt

Will try again. I had saved the blocks as JPEG and they didn't come through apparently. I will try to attach again as a GIF

I think the print you used was to big/bold. It takes away from the Sunbonnet Sues. A smaller/quieter print would allow your eyes to go to the Sunbonnet Sues. Because of the large print your eyes are roving the quilt top looking for a place to land.
good luck.

I agree it is wonderful. Sometimes I just get sick of something and it looks awful to me but not anyone else.

As with everything, you will get lots of opinions, but you should finish it, they are just too cute not to!
YES, that's it the sashing is too 'busy'! sue's hat is a deep purple-so if i (like someone suggested) put a narrow purple sashing around the yellow and then join them with white?
i do think i have too much yellow already and the comment about only using 1/4 yellow makes sense.
now black would make the colors intense is that correct and the white should cool them down--right.
color selection is a tough one for me.
