I like the tone on tone fabrics, you can get off white, cream is what I usually use. White is too white for me.
Plus, they seem to better a better quality than more solid white fabrics. The designs add a little interest than just a solid fabric as well.

I really like to use Kaufman Fusions for blenders. It gives the appearance of being a blender from a distance but closer you see the pretty floral design. Another reason I like them so much is they are so versatile. They usually have enough different tones in them that you can mix and match them very easily with anything from Asian prints to Batiks to country colors like thimbleberries or CW repros.
I also like marbles. No brand loyalty on those. I have used Moda or P&B or any brand I find that works. And never underestimate the power of a good solid like Kona or Moda Bellas.
