First I love seeing how the quilt looks after being LA quilted by Daisey. Amazing work. Then I love sewing the binding down by hand. Sewing it by hand gives me a real connection to the quilt.

Funny to admit this but I think my favorite part, other than putting the blocks together, is ironing. I get some sort of strange satisfaction from starching and pressing the fabric ... weird I know.

I love the hand quilting part. The stitches really transform it into a warm and cozy hug.

You may think I am crazy but I love hand-sewing the binding onto my quilt. It is the last step in making it and so rewarding.

I think first would be buying fabric!! The other part would be putting it together to see if it looks like I thought it would and hopefully it's straight!!

I love the quilting part, but I agonize over the perfect quilting pattern for that particular quilt. Many times I don't decide how to quilt it until the quilt is sandwiched. Sometimes I just have to leave it laid out in my sewing room for days or weeks until it speaks to me. Sometimes I will machine quilt and sometimes I will hand quilt. I am almost done quilting a queen size by hand. I sure wish this quilt had said "machine quilt me, please", LOL.
