The Ricky Timms version makes a 3 D flying geese. The quilting keeps them closed. There is extra fabric on the back of the geese. I usually don't make the geese unit bigger then 3" so the fabric isn't that much.

The last time I made flying geese, the method on the web site is the method I used. I have also used flying geese rulers and a couple of other methods. I don't have a favorite method. I just like making flying geese regardless of the method I use.

I do , too. But -- I still prefer the "old fashioned way," that is with the rectangle and 2 squares.

I think she meant that with the one seam method, you have three layers of fabric in the geese. I always thought that was a waste of fabric also, but now have see it done with those bias edges folded down a bit and stitched in an arc. Sure adds a wonderful dimension to a quilt.

Have had Eleanor Burns rulers and now use Deb Tuckers Wing Clipper. EB's can't come anywhere near the ease and accuracy of DT.
