This may sound silly, but I took an auto accessory bag that you hang over the back of your seat & attached it to my table. They usually have a strap to loop around the seat |& you can add to this. Works great for me & holds a lot of needed things

I use the window sill behind my machine for an odd assortment of cups, mugs, glasses, tins and a couple of those mesh organizers with magnets on the side so they clump together, they hold scissors, pens, marking pencils, machine needles, small rulers, wooden presser, seam ripper, and small knitting needle I use for turning corners. Most everything stands like a pencil cup and its always where I can find it. I use one of those sand filled pincushions sold at Joanns with the little pouch that hangs off the table for scraps and threads.

i saved some of the carboard tubes from toidy paper. i stick 4 of them into a small coffee can; i can fit all sorts of things into it.
i also took one of the small cans and put it inside a large one. more tubes go around the small can.
someday i'll make fancy shmancy drawstring bags to cover them. for now, when i need portable toolishness, i just set the cans into a tote back right-side up and off i go. :-)

There's one big section (that i put cut threads in) and a few smaller pockets that I put a pen and a stitch ripper in.
The problem - it keeps falling off!
Has anyone a better solution?
Anyone make a tool caddy for the sewing table?

My machine is set up in front of a large picture window, so I use the window sill. I have my bernina accessory box, bobbin towers, pincushion, safety pin tin (it was my daughter's fossil watch box), and glass jars for odd and end things. I try to find something I have around the house to use before having to purchase anything. You would be surprised what you can find when you use your imagination.

So I take it that not many people have a sewing cabinet that your machine sits on? It has drawers all down one side? The top drawer is where I put all my smaller sewing notions, divided up in a silverware tray. It works great!

I loved the drawers in my sewing machine cabinet, still have lots of goodies in them. However my lighting is just the 'chandelier' over the dining room table, so when I got my portable sewing machine I just set it up on the end of the dining room table in order to see what I was doing better. I also have one of the pocket organizer things that hangs up (like the closet shoe or jewelry organizer) near my machine and ironing board.

How about a large coffee mug? They are heavy and won't tip. Plenty of room for a few necessary items while you sew.
Set a small trash can on the floor to toss in the threads.
I use them even in my drawers for safety pins and misc. items.
like sewing machine needles. This way my drawers are always organized.
