when an award winning quilt is sold, who gets the ribbons?

I think I would have a hard time parting with that quilt, if it were mine! That's absolutely stunning! You should keep your ribbons. If you would like it, I do have a form for a "certified copy" language which is applicable in Florida, and I suspect may be acceptable in your state as well. That way, the buyer will have a "Certified Copy or Certified Photo" of the award itself. This language is used in Florida for certified copies of documents (or photos) of the original, when the document or photo is not of record in an official governmental office, such as a clerk of the court! I would be glad to send this in a pm if you want.
