I really like # 2 (first choice) but also like # 1 too
i might eliminate the 2nd outside border like you said and you could make the binding multicolor with all the left over strips. Would it be too small if you eliminated all borders and stopped at picture 1?
I guess I haven't been any help because I really like it all.

Did you try alternating bgorders with red/ green. Maybe even with another tone or print of each to break it up.

I like 2. BUt I like borders of differing widths. make the white smaller and a larger black.
