I too head for the SALE areas or signs first. Then it's to the black-and-whites to see if there is anything new, and start up and down the aisles from there, depending on how much time I have.

I head for the latest Jinny Beyer line. Since the internet I find myself shopping online for fabric a lot more. Not nearly as much fun though :)

I find myself so overwhelmed I just stand & let my eyes take in the whole shop. Then I tend to start on the left & travel around every inch of the shop. I'm usually drawn to patterns first since the amt. of fabrics is so much for the eye to take in for awhile. If I have a particular pattern in mind, then it's easier to hone in on colors.

In reading the others responses, it reminded me that I'm usually drawn to finished samples hanging on the wall. I've been in shops that didn't have much in the way of samples & I felt it was very lacking in appeal.
