I just inherited my mother in law's old White sewing machine in a cabinet. The machine pops up when the cover is lifted. Are they good old machines like the Singers I keep reading about in these posts?

I used to have a White sewing machine. They are really work horses. I needed a machine with more doo-dads on it so I sold the old white. It was one with cams, and I used it to make lots of dresses for my girls--3 of them. It was a good machine.

I had a old White brand machine. It was great , I bought it used when I was in college many many moons ago . It sewed through anything , The only reason I got rid of it was my Mom gave me her old 1950's Singer and I was pressed for space.
I wish I had kept it ... It would have made a great spare.

My mom got a used White treadle machine in the forties. She used it for many years. It was the machine I learned on. Now my sister has and uses it. Still going strong.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I just bought something similar to this and wanted to find out some more information. I have a White Super 30 that is a light blue built into a nice wood desk. It is very similar to the Singer 15K and looks just like the Dressmaker A-2 in the link provided below. I have a few questions about functionality and will post a picture later. It's in great condition and just want to take care of it.

thanks

Oh I used to have a White machine in the 70's. Gave it to a friend and used her machine for a trade in for my Singer in 1980. I do remember it as a very good machine though. not sure what model.
