Who can admit to using Quilter's Showcase in a quilt?

I used a JoAnn fabric in one of my first quilts along with quilt store cotton in the mid-80’s. The JA fabric was the main color. Although the fabric itself is still in good shape it faded terribly with the first wash and continued to fade with each wash. The other cottons are just as bright today as when I first made the quilt.

Lots of good points here.
I guess for me I just don't feel like searching around to separate the good from the bad. The JA near me is huge and a big mess. Not at all shopper friendly, including people who know anything about fabric It's not the least bit inviting.
Last week I was in there for curtain rods and looked at some patterns for a summer top. The drawers were practically empty.
The last comment surprised me though. I never pay 12.00 a yard for anything. I have found the shops and the brands that I like so it works for me.
And their coupons are ridiculous.

I agree, with all the of the on line options out there I have never paid $12 per yard for any fabric. I rarely pay more than $7 per yard and that is for name brand fabrics and batiks. So many sources offer sale prices or discounts. Hancocks of Paducah regularly offers so many fabrics in the $4.99 to 6.99 price range. And whenever I am in a quilt shop I always check out the clearance corner where it is marked down.

I’m not a purist, I just love to create, prolifically. I have no expectations that my quilts will outlive me, or sometimes even more than a decade. Use it up and I’ll happily make you a new one. I try to be cognizant of quality, sometimes it’s obvious and I definitely avoid those. And sure, my budget isn’t what I’d wish. But I’m happiest when I’m creating, and fabric shopping is a small piece of that. I guess I haven’t had the poor experiences that some have with Joann’s so I keep shopping there.

I buy from them and so far so good I have made a lot of quilts and have not had any come back for repairs. I am like everyone else I love the quilt store but I also buy what I can afford and sometimes it is joanns.

I remember when Quilter's Showcase first showed up at JoAnn's. The price and the feel of the fabric were wonderful.
It holds up great. The only thing is I can't always find a pattern or color I want.

I like Quilter's Showcase for backing. I even used it as a feature fabric in a wallhanging at Christmas. I feel it has a better 'hand' than most of the Keepsake line. JoAnn's certainly fills a niche. If you know your fabrics, you can find
'good stuff' there.

My first ever quilt was made from Joann Fabric and my problem with it was it was thin and as it is washed quite often the batting is coming through on the front. I really tend to get my fabric for quilts that I gift or keep at a quilt/fabric shop. I'd rather make less and have them last.

I see your point about a messy JA, SusieQ. Ours is kept up really nice, but the one in Memphis near where my daughter lives is always a disaster zone. I won't shop there. It really makes a difference who's managing a store.
