I think its an epedemic! LOL Guity as charged! I have even taken and cut some tinfoil with it to give it a quick sharpening to prolong the life so I dont have to change it! Do it with my sissors also to put off getting them sharpened!

I think it has something to do with the fact that quilters don't throw "anything" away---we always feel we can either find another use for it. I have to force myself to even throw slivers of fabric away---in fact I have read of some quilters who also dye their fabric and save the fabric ravels---put them into a jar and use them for embelllisments on quilts! ;-)

Fellow Addicts: We all do not change blades as frequently as we should for a variety of reasons. If yours is price, did you know that Harbor Freight sells 45mm rotary blades at $1.99 for two blades? The men at the store call them carpet cutters but I don't let them know I use them on fabric. They are the same, my whole guild is now using them and loves them!

I think with me it is the price thing too. Brings the cost of making the quilt even more. Could buy a yard of fabric with that money.

Ng, nag, nag... OK, I just changed my blade. Amazing difference!!! Last night I was making three passes before I finally made the cut. Guess I'm slow to catch on.
