I like fat quarters for appliques. I don't like cutting in to a whole yard just to get enough for an applique. Also, I often can't find yardage in something that I like in a fat quarter. As others have commented you can use several shades of a color and not have to buy whole yards of each. They are good for my cloth dolls and totes, too.

I love them for appliques in my SW babt quilts. I can use diierent skis and ground looking fabrics then do a buffalo applique onto the block.

Gday, i don't like buying fq's mainly cause i don't really have a project in mind when i am buying fabric, so if i see something that i like i tend to buy either a metre/yard or more. I am still learning. I have plenty of books that gives me ideas for projects, so i have alot to do. I enjoy the collecting and building my stash also. :)

I like to use lots of colors, or shades of the same colors so I use lots of fat quarters in my quilts.

I normally don't buy fat quarters on purpose. However, I do have a small stash of them that I have accumalted ove the years and they are great for applique when you need alittle something extra or for adding that unusal zinger to a block.

Never bought any except for secret pal swap. I prefer the regular quarter yd & have a lot of them mostly in blenders.

I buy them to satisfy my addiction without going totally broke! Plus I've gotten into using multiple fabrics of one color in my quilts of late, I like the interest it adds when viewing up close.

I like fat quarters because of the manageable size to cut. Plus I have a few FQ books that I want to make quilts out of. AND, I found a tutorial on this board for a sweat shirt jacket I want to try! ;o)

I don't buy FQs; however, I have lots because of swaps and gifties through the years. They are wonderful for scrappy quilts. I've also been doing 2" squares and also trades for these squares. It's so much easier to pull out a FQ than to pull out yardage.
