    I think most people do them rectangular so that it fits a mug and a little space for a snack as others have mentioned. We have a great tutorial on QB for making mapleleaf ones and there are other shapes out there on the web. There are no rules on what shape to do, do what you want!

    Some folks consider the mug rug an overgrown coaster -- I'm thinking it's a mini-placemat! Need room for those bedtime snacks!

    Bigger bulls eye harder to miss when not looking??? And the spoon thing. Those are my guesses and I'm sticking to them :)
