I just take handwork to do in the car and when we get to our destination. Not that far along on machine quilting. For 4 mo. stay, I would take whatever you think you will work on.

If it fits, I'd be tempted to go for it, although if it doesn't, you can do a lot of piecing and quilt your projects when you get home. Do what feels best for you.

I hope you enjoy Wichita. I grew up just south of there (Wellington). By all means if you have the room, take it. I love to visit my sister in Wichita. They had a great quilt show a couple of yeas ago. Several different quilt shops, take money. lol Enjoy

Four months is more than what I view as a vacation. If you have all day, I think I would want it. It may fit in a Thule hard case on top of your car that locks, so you wouldn't have to move it until you arrive.

I agree. Take the DSM, but leave the mid-arm. They can be temperamental about being taken down and set up and repeating that action. I also bet that you'll spend a lot of time with family.

Out time in Wichita is nearly over and I thought I'd report on how it went. I did bring the Sweet Sixteen and set up a room for my stuff. I made and quilted a Christmas panel for our apartment door in December, quilted two charity quilts for the guild, completed a Valor quilt for a friend of my son-in-law, and at Spring break Texas daughter visited, used my SS to do her first quilting on a quilt she started at my house several years ago. So happy she took it home with binding sewn on, ready for hand finishing. I took a wonderful class with Kathy McNeil on applique and am well along on the Cardinals block from her Audubon Christmas quilt. Completed a small top last weekend with strip packs from 2 of the local quilt shops. So glad I brought my stuff. Made a bunch of nice friends and would love to move here when our Vermont house sells. Hubby not so eager to move, but he enjoyed model railroad activities and all the great restaurants here. We plan to stop at Missouri Star Quilting on the way home. Thank you all for great comments!
