wide ironing board at Wal-Mart
#31
I have bought long ago in a garage sale an ironing board which has expandable ears on the left side narrow end, it's so practicle and it's also very sturdy. I think it dates back in the 1970's. I can't find one any more and I would like to make a nice cover but I can't find a pattern either.
Does anyone has one of these old ironing board and would have a pattern for a cover?

I have that very same ironing board and love it. Yes, you can set your hot iron on the metal holder at the end -- it took me a while to get brave enough to try it, since there weren't any instructions with the board when I bought it.
I even got a "deal" on my board at WalMart. It rang up at $19, which is the price for the regular-sized boards. I told the checker that the price wasn't correct, and told him what the price should be, but he wasn't interested in changing it and told me, in effect, that I was mistaken. I didn't feel like arguing with him, or asking for a manager, so I paid the $19 and went home.

I have one exactly like that and LOVE it! Replacement covers can be difficult to find so if you see one somewhere GET IT and have it on hand. I know you can make your own, but with so many quilts to make who wants to be taking time to make an ironing board cover????

Wish I had seen them the other day when I was desperate for one. I ended up making my own. Got a nice piece of wood, used batting and muslin to cover. Works great, I never would have thought I was so crafty lol.

No, it's not heavy. I am a 100 pound weakling, and I carried it easily.
Mine came with a cover, but I prefer a pretty cover and just pinned fabric over it. That is what I had done with my old ironing board. I want a purple flowered cover...not something you can buy. :)
