Default will either of these work for a border?

I have this UFO from a year ago that I want to finish up to donate to a family this Christmas. There is a 3 year old boy who I think might just like firetrucks (I hope). I really don't want to spend any more money but I would like to finish the quilt up to nice finish.

I was looking through my fabric for a border. Do you think either of these will work? I like stripes, but not sure about those colors with the quilt top. I like the yellowish, but then I wonder if it will be too much yellow. What do you guys think - which would you use for a border? Or maybe a thin yellow for a stop border and then the stripe?

I wouldn't use either one. I like the stripes, but not with the rest of the fabric. The solid on the right looks off in color. Just bind it! A 3 yr old will love it!

I, on the other hand, WOULD use the stripe because it can't be too busy for a kid! They like stripes. They like red. They like fire trucks. What's not to love here for a 3 year old?!!

The stripe is busy so the little boy will enjoy it. Do you have any red left over for the binding or use the gold.

Sorry, but I'm not liking either choice. The stripes are kind of jarring and the other is just so-so. You could birth it and use no more fabric. Do you have more of the red for a simple binding? Or white?

I think the stripe is perfect! Then bind with the yellow. This is going to be a great quilt for a little boy.

I would not put a border on it. I think I might like the stripe as the binding fabric though! Striped binding really adds some pizazz to kids quilts.

The stripe has so many colors that aren't in the quilt that I wouldn't use it for myself. However - a child will still love it! I also like the orange, but I don't think the quilt really needs a border unless you want it to be larger.
