i will not buy a magazine that's been skimmed through by someone else. it's not new anymore. people look through the mags to see if they want it, but then they buy a fresh copy. i've been interested in buying certain mags but only found bent and torn ones. what is the store supposed to do with those? that's why they come in plastic. i won't buy one in torn plastic. i'm sorry if there's nothing there to interest you, but to tear it open and then not buy it is stealing.

I won't buy a magazine wrapped in plastic. However, F & P sometimes have a template or something else that comes with the magazine that they don't want to fall out so hence the plastic. Also, patterns can be ripped out of mags. and stolen.

As far as opening the mag to look through it and see if you want to buy it? I don't call that stealing, but it is wrong.
Do you open a bag of cookies, milk, chips, take a few grapes and eat them to see if you want to buy it? Wrong.

Now, I realize my head is on the chopping block here, but since a few of you have said this I'm gonna have my say about it. That's just wrong. It's inconsiderate of others and typical of the "it's all about me and what I want" mindset. Very few quilting magazines come wrapped in plastic. Leave those few be and get on to the others you can rifle through.

i know a lot of you disagree with me, but if the plastic is torn and the store cant sell that magazine, that sale has been stolen from the store. they paid whatever they paid for the magazine and that money is gone. most stores run on a very small profit margin and any loss is important.
