Default Wobble Stool

Does anyone use a Wobble Stool at their sewing machine? I have back and leg pain. I was told I need to strengthen my core muscles and since I spend hours sewing I read that these stools strengthen those. Any thoughts?

Are you talking about the Pettibon wobble chair (The late Dr. Pettibon was a chiropractor and his chair was invented (as I understand it) to treat low back pain - it has arms - the stool top wobbles) or the stools that are being advertised for children where the base of the stool wobbles?
There are multiple reviews online for the latter. If you are contemplating the Pettibon chair, I would discuss it with a chiropractor who follows the Pettibon system.

I bought a tilt stool and it wobbles and rotates. I use it at my sit down quilting machine. It's very heavy and does not move from the spot. I can go any direction and swivel around to get off easily. It has air lift too. I found it on sale at Office Depot and thought why not try it. If nothing else the grands would love to spin on it. LOL I'm glad bought it. Oh and the grands do love to spin on it.

OnebyOne--would be very interested in the brand name of this chair--maybe a picture?

I do know as a retired educator that the wobble "chairs" used by kids (usually a ball shape with a base that keeps it from shooting off) are very successful for kids that have difficulty in staying seated and they are also touted for their strengthening of core muscles that support backs.

I bought one of the ball chairs and it doesn't do much for me, honestly. I have friends who have paddle boards and they say it really gives you a workout, you find out you have muscles you didn't know about.

Did the person who said you need to strengthen your core muscles tell you how you should strengthen them? I think any professional health care provider will give you a list of some exercises, at the very least.

I have one and yes it will strengthen your core muscles. However, you need to have some core strength and quick reflexes and good balance when starting out or you will end up on the floor.

The one I have isn't hard at all to keep balance. It doesn't tilt that far out enough I'd fall off. The bottom is solid and does not move, the tilt is in the upper seat part.

Fascinating! I need core strength and movement. Does the seat twist?
