Their is a you tube video on making fabric twine. It was really interesting to do and no seeing required

What a timely post. I made this with 1 inch strips of fabric. The longer the strip the better. It's called "Locker Hooking". It was a fun project, and it felt good using up scraps.[ATTACH=CONFIG]516345[/ATTACH]

Not one sliver of my fabric goes to the landfill. I like selvage ś for small projects. Amy thing to a all to use, I donate to a lady who makes dog beds for Humane Society and rescue groups.

I use them in crazy quilts, strip quilts, and to put in dog beds. I have been told that it is not good to put out for birds. Just something I heard.

I have a a bag of what I call "strips" (narrower than 1.5"). I am undecided if I like the look of most strip quilts enough to use them. I think I do...as I do like some of them--but do I want to spend my time making something like this? Good question. I think so...but in the meantime, I have 10+ other projects lined up. I live in a state of quandary about this.

Maybe you could use strips as leaders and enders like Bonnie Hunter does her squares, but you'd be using strips instead. Then when you have a bunch of twosies made, sew them together to make foursies, etc. At some point, when the "blocks" are wide enough, trim them into a size you want and use them like fabric. Easy peasy way to get some string blocks made with little effort.

Just a thought.

I've made couple rugs with selvage and fabric strips. I use to take bread wrappers and make rugs for outside the kitchen door weighted down with old washers (don't tell DH). Helped to keep dirt from tracking in. Took a while for the dogs to get used to them but they lasted awhile. I need to make some more.
