I absoluely would buy it......you could wash and dry, and if it shrinks, then it becomes more like the boiled wool fabric and you would still have enough to use for batting or to make a garment.....

I just finished a flannel ( front & back) rag quilt that I used washed wool for the batting. It is soooooo heavy. But I wanted it in our travel trailer and we love it. I would buy it if it was still there. Tomorrow is 1/2 off at our local GW Boutique I will be searching out buys.

...thanks for all the great information! and I have a red blanket w/ the black stripes downstairs. Will have to see if it has a maker label on it!
Mine is in our travel trailer and I make sure it always comes back in after camping. Mine is a Hudson Bay Blanket. I wouldn't trade it for fur pelts (but they are warm too).

I have used wool blankets as batting, especially for lap quilts that get dragged off to sports events, so I definitely would have bought it.

I bought 2 wool blankets at a thrift store. Washed them and they are wonderful. DGS wanted one and he loves it too. The 2nd one is in the MH.
