Most pre-quilted fabric is polyester batting inside, please be careful when making hot pads that they are for decoration only as polyester is not a good 'heat shield', as it will melt. It is fun to make purses, wallets, book covers, iPad cases, glasses cases, etc., so have fun with your find.

I purchased a large plastic garbage bag full of fabric and scraps this weekend at a yard sale for $8.00. There was one length of 6 yds that I will use for a quilt backing. Lots of small pieces about the size of fat quarters of calico and solids. Then there were several pieces of prequilted fabric some in larger pieces and some in small pieces. I have sorted through all of it and decided what to keep and what to find new homes for except for the prequilted pieces. I have no idea what I would use them for but there is enough of it here that I hate to just get rid of it. I have thought of keeping it and using it for backing and batting for things like wall hangings as none of it is big enough to use as a quilt backing. Any suggestions as to what you have used prequilted fabric for would be most appreciated. It will help me to decide to keep or dispose of. Thanks, Ann in TN
Depending on size--------liners for purses, backs for mug rugs, backs for table runners, basically any way you'd use batting

Cut into squares, add a backing and do a quilt as you go. To use the smaller piecies, do the same, get the look of a crazy patch. Hear is a chance to use all of those different stitches on your machine that you never get to use.

you can make coasters, potholders, placemats and tree skirts, etc out of the pre quilted fabrics.. just cut and bind them..
or sew them together and sew strips over the seam lines to make something bigger.. small prices are great for paper piecing and Carol Doak has a practice block on her website to learn to paper piece and it is very easy to do, just start with #1 lay a piece of fabric over the size of the #1 slot and pin it and turn it over and sew on the seam line, turn back over fold out fabric you just sewed down and trim it to 1/4" of the seam line and face down the #2 fabric pin trun and sew and on and on until you have the block done.. very easy.. have fun.. I made a king size quilt that way and most of it was from scraps.

I made an over-the-couch-arm pin cushion and organizer. You can also make a couch organizer to hold the TV remote(s), a book you're reading, a portable phone....
I also made litter bags for the car (lined them with roll plastic, and put binding on the outside).
I've made placemats, coasters.
I'd be afraid to use them as potholders because I wouldn't know what the batting is, plus they wouldn't be thick enough for me and my sensitive fingers.

Add more layers for pot holders.
