I do pin boarders and I pin my backing on to Quilt also
it all depends on how it's fitting together on different task that I might be doing.

I pin on borders, sashings, so far i ahve not pinned when putting small pieces together.....but it really just depends on the size of the piece.

I hate pinning. I pin if I have to match exactly and don't think I can finger pin (The first quilting teacher I had was Elenor Burns on TV). Sashings always give me problems so I do pin those. I clip the borders and glue binding.

If I do strip sets and they are not too long, I will lay them, right sides facing, on the ironing board, spray with a little starch and press. The strips say together pretty well and you can avoid pins. When I pin, I get puckers where the pins are.

I pin borders and at joined seams. I just feel more comfortable doing it that way.

I only pin when I match seams and points.
