I am not a fan of bright primary colors and would never make a quilt of them. However, I can appreciate a quilt's design, construction, colors, fabric choices even if it is not my cup of tea. I am more contemporary, not traditional by any means but I love a log cabin quilt and can appreciate a vintage quilt no matter the pattern or color.

Like others, I love and appreciate all kinds of color schemes in quilts. I personally like choosing more subdued and simple color combos because I just think I'm better at that. I think my brain just can't process more than a few colors for one quilt. I very rarely will have more than one print in a quilt.

Many times on QB, I've looked at (non-scrappy) quilts done with a dozen colors, and I just can't figure out how you guys are able to make it work. That's just one reason I love this site!

It depends on the situation at hand. There is a time to be bold and there is a time to be subtle. On the gradient scale, I go with more subtleness than boldness personally.

Depends on my mood. I like all the colors, bright and dark rich colors and jewel tones and pastels. I make what I'm in the mood to make.

I've made both kind of quilts, but I suppose I tend to stay someplace in the middle of subtle and bold in my taste.

I used to be strictly conservative colors, but lately, I have taken to the brighter colors. I guess as I get older (Oh Lord, did I say that?), I don't really care what other people think about what I like.

wolfkitty you could have been talking about me. I have a collection of 30's fabric that I bought 10 years ago and everytime I look for something new to do I skip them completely.

Today I was in an LQS looking at Halloween fabric, there was a nice suble panel and stripe -- I liked it on one level but could not bring myself to buy it.

I love brights and jewel tones and earthy colors, too. What I have finally discovered is I don't like large white, off white, or pastel empty spaces. Color and pattern, yes. Blank areas, no.

I tend to go old fashioned -not splashy. A Victorian Rose would go way better for me than a jungle print.
