I also saw Zentangle books at JoAnns the other day when I was browsing. Didn't know before that they had them. I have draw quite a few from the internet site, just for fun, and also did a couple little dried gourds that I had lying around. They are fun, and can be quite simple or quite complicated. They remind me a little of Leah Day's year of FMQ designs.

After being curious about it for years, I'm just getting started with Zentangle . I got a book with a coupon at Hobby Lobby and also found the 2 websites mentioned. I'm also starting pyrography (fancy name for woodburning) and gourding. I can see lots of applications for Zentangles in FMQ, fabric embellishment and just about every type of art/craft/medium I try. I cut some "tiles" from copier paper and started practicing with just a pencil. Now I've "graduated" to gel roller pens. It's VERY engaging, a great alternative to watching TV, and the results are surprising.

when I was at my sickest and sleep was difficult, I made a little kit and kept it in my bedside drawer. A stack of cut down cardstock, pencils and a handful of fine point sharpies. I made one every night, it seemed to reorder my mind away from all the things I was worried about. I don't keep much but I doubt I'll ever throw those away.

http://zanyquilter.blogspot.com/p/ze...-tutorial.html

Here is a link to a tutorial to make a small zentangle quilt.

I have made one and enjoyed it but don't think I would do it again. My one is below. More or less copied the one in the tutorial.

I used Zentangle kits one year as part of my DDs home school art class. Youngest loved it and is now in industrial design. Oldest (a computer engineer researcher) not so much. I'm glad you started this thread. I thought it looked like fun but just didn't have the time back then. I signed up for the newsletter and think I'll start playing with it. Thanks!!

pamelainsa....You certainly have "the talent". This Zentangle quilt is wonderful And the tutorial is a good one, too. Not sure if I could do it, but I'd like to try. Thank you for the link....I have saved it.....
