Does anyone on the swap make postage size quilts? I could save my trims for you. I am doing string blocks of
floral fabric right now. I also have a punch. I will never, never use it!

Ladies, I am sorry for the delay in posting step 3 of our QAL... I spent an hour working on it, only to have the website reject it because it said the text was 90,000+ words! (It is 1600 words, including spaces.) Pretty frustrating. I will keep trying.

This is what I came up with, calling it Windowsill. Is it too plain alongside the other multiple pieced blocks? IYHO

dj, I like this block. How does it look with the rest that you've made? How will you quilt it? You are so close to completing your quilt and I am so anxious to see it! LOL

Default Playing w Candy!

I keep my fabric in plastic sweater boxes. It was time to clean out "green".

Arkansas Crossroads Step 3:

So far we have put together the 16 patch blocks, and also the X blocks to comprise our quilt. Now it's time to join these to complete our quilt center, and then make the border blocks.

Returning to our layout, be sure you have the X blocks in the proper placement to complete your colored motifs. (If you are making the all-scrappy version you can place the X blocks between any two 16 patches, as appeals to you).

Next, join your blocks to complete the center. Press as desired.

Now we need to cut more 4.5" squares to construct the border. Using your background fabric, cut 36 4.5" squares for the baby quilt, (or 48 for the throw quilt size.) Lay these squares out around the outside of your quilt center. Taking the leftover candy squares you saved from your incomplete blocks, lay them in the corners (face up) of the 4.5" squares where they will be sewn, just as you did for the center blocks in step 2.

In addition, place 3 more candies as shown, to complete the two diamonds in the remote corners of your quilt. In the 4x4 block layout these will be in opposite corners, in the 5x6 layout they will be in adjacent corners.

Picking up a couple of the border candies at a time, flip the 2.5" squares over and sew them right sides together, snowball style, in the corners of the border squares where you have placed them. Press as discussed in Step 2 and return to their place in the layout.

With all the border triangles sewn, join the top row of squares into one long strip. Repeat with the bottom row of squares. Then sew each side column of squares together. Press all seams and set aside for next week, Step 4: Completing the Quilt.

dottiedodge, the block look alright with the others...thought about angle quilting for it (bottom left to upper right) to make it look like sunlight coming into the window.

dotcomdtcm, love your raccoons block, too cute! I'm working on a Cal King PSQ & would love any leftovers you can spare. I'll PM you my address if you wish.

Off to the kitch to make Egg Foo Yung with gravy, Fish Tacos, & satay shrimp on glass noodles. Hubby is coming in tonight for the whole weekend, yeah!
hugs,
dj

I was uploading the 7 photos that go with my text for the QAL and the website locked me out. The only way I could do it was by posting the text and then editing to insert the photos. I am so ticked off I can't even tell you. I have spent WWWAAAAAYYYY too much time on this today! I have written the site administrator to ask if she would open the editing permission back up until I can get those photos uploaded. Until then, you will not have photos in this week's post.

DJ, what size small scraps do you use for your PSQ?

Jaba, I'm glad you decided on the white. I think it makes the stars pop.
