I was using Hobbs 80/20 batting (80% cotton and 20% poly). I don't recommend QAYG for fluffy poly batting... but the 80/20 or even 100% cotton makes it a dream to work with.
The cool thing is that you can start quilting now on the sports blocks you already have, and be ahead of the game when the next batch of sports blocks comes back to you!

Thanks Sewbiz, haven't decided which boom to start with. Having finger surgery tomorrow, it should be quick and easy but no sewing supposedly for 10 to 14 days. I can see where using a rotary cutter is a no go since it's my index finger but will ask if I can quilt b4 that.

Hoping the finger surgery goes well for you, Terri. Follow dr.s orders! You can peruse patterns and surf online while you can't sew. Try Pinterest. You'll be there for days!
Joan, if cutting is making your should ache, please change your rotary blade, and possibly your mat! You can flip your mat over and use the smooth backside like a new mat, minus the lines. (You can get your lines from your ruler.) It sounds like you are having to press down too hard on your cutter. That will bother your shoulder. Maybe that's what's wrong with mine!
