I received the most LOVELY secret pal package from Jane! Thank you!!!
Sewing themed fabric and 30s charms for my tumbler quilt. L.O.V.E. Bali snaps, thread and a tape measure...a couple magazines that I can't wait to sit and read!! Twizzlers, coffee (seriously that Starbucks Italian Roast is my favorite - and it's not cheap, so thanks!) and notepads, because I am still a writer at heart...just in small bursts! Best of all - a handmade tote for my books! Awesome! Thank you again - it was fun to be spoiled!!

Can't wait until tomorrow. Going to the Iowa State Fair can't wait to see the quilts for one thing! Have lost 130 pounds now but have a huge incisional hernia that I am having surgery for Monday. One good thing is that I won't be eating much, just begging for a bite of everyone's food.....can I have a bite of your corndog? Funnel cake and such lol.

Received a lovely box from Jaba yesterday. She made me a table runner in red and white with a matching chicken pincushion, a pin holder, and a little box. There were chocolate mints and twizzlers and a beautiful panel and homemade raspberry jam. I love the Dritz marking pens and to top it off, 10 fabulous autumn fabrics. Thanks again, Jaba.

Krystyna I sent you a pm of a link to a paper piece pattern of "a girl sewing"
which reminded me A LOT of your avatar.
I won't post the link here because if I did the mods would delete the post.
Personally I would love for everyone to see the pattern.

It can vary. For some yet to be explained reason, it takes longer to come from you guys than it does to get to you. I posted mine to Illinois the 6th and I got a pm from my partner on the 12th to say that she'd got it the day before (although with the time difference that may not be strictly true ). I've known parcels to take nearly two weeks to the UK sometimes!

Peg, Jane sent you some really cute fabrics! Lucky girl!
Lori, congratulations on the 130 lbs! That is wonderful. Keep your eyes on the quilts and off the corn dogs. Will be praying for you.
Darlene, you were so thoughtful. Thank you again!
Aunt59, what a terrific package you received from Jaba. Raspberry jam --- yum!
Off topic -- a couple of days ago we were awakened in the middle of the night with flash flood warnings. We didn't think much about it until DH got a phone call at 4:30 am from a co-worker who was freaking out because the plant they work at was flooded. At 5:30 he was ready to leave for work. We looked out the window --- hmmmm, a little rain. What's the big deal? He hopped in the car and took off. A few minutes later he was back -- the roads at the bottom of the hill were flooded with cars stuck in the water! He went in the other direction. By then some of the water had receded but there were still cars stuck in the road. Moral of the story - as much as I miss going to the fishing pier every day in season, the sound of seagulls and the smell of the ocean, life is looking pretty good (and dry) here at 36' elevation!
