Great question, JayneW. I wash my fabric with Retayne per the instructions on the bottle. (I really only pre-wash fabric for Booms so my bottle has lasted forever.) I dry as I would plan to dry my finished quilt, press the fabric and then cut. For the fabric I make members' blocks with, I'll cut more then I think I'll actually need, an inch or two larger, wash by hand, press and use that. Prewashing is not my preference but it's part of the rules for swapping per the QB so we abide by it.

Welcome Aunt 59, Hope you come to love these booms as much as I do. The swappers are so fun and I look forward to each and every post.

I was able to get on today, but that was the first time in over a month since I've been able to.

Thank you! I was wondering why we had to prewash as it seems most quilters don't... board rules! I get it!

It's a hotly debated issue in many groups and online sites. It's personal preference. Many fabrics do have a lot of chemicals on them so for those who are sensitive, or those who simply don't want to handle the chemicals repeatedly, I totally understand pre-washing.

Here's a reminder for anyone who is interested in Boom 19 but hasn't yet signed up: Sign-ups close at 11:59 pm ET on Friday. Time to jump down off that fence and join the fabulous Boomers in the 2 month group. We still have a lot of space but when sign-ups close, the spaces will be filled by existing members who wish to take those slots.

Go ahead...sign-up. You know you want to!

So sorry to read about Seasaw. She made me such a special block for my "hippie friend". Now I don't know either if I want to include it when I assemble it .

Went to the Dr for follow up post surgery today. They had a new computer system they are changing to so had to fill out lots of med history paperwork for the new system. Here is a part of the conversation between me and the nurse about a question on the new form.
Me - I was tempted to answer yes on the "do you exercise regularly" question, but thought you'd take one look at me and laugh.
Nurse - (smiling) you mean you Don't exercise regularly?
Me - well that depends, does exercising the brain to figure out complex quilt patterns count?

Moonwork, that intricate block deserves to be framed as a stand alone. It is so special and beautiful.
