I do use flannel for the strips on the back. I just use a shorter stitch length to make sure it will hold well and not pull out. I don't find it too stretchy at all. I love having everything cut and ready when I start on a QAYG. Stack them babies and let her rip! I've even started ordering neutral flannels so I can go ahead and get it cut and have it ready for whatever I decide to go with for the top.

Terri, hope you aren’t too sore today. Yes, you were very lucky you didn’t break or sprain anything! Falls get scarier, the older we get.

Thanks for the well wishes... not feeling better yet, in fact it seems to get worse every day. Day 5 of hell... it’s been a long weekend but tomorrow I’m going in to see the dr.

Sorry to hear that Terri,,hope you arent too sore. Im finding Im more clumsy as I age, not good balance. Scares me to think of falling. Grandson was over and he made a carrot cake from scratch. Did everyting but peel the carrots. He measured, sifted, ran the chopper then decided he wanted cashews on top..I was proud of him at 4 for being able to follow my instructions and had fun..He did everything but take a bite..said he didnt like carrots! LOL. Off to see the show "I can only imagine"...hope its good

Terri, sorry about your fall. Glad at least you scored "toughness" points with the grandkids! Sewbiz, get better! It seems not fair to have made it all winter and get the flu now! Sorry.

Here are my last three blocks! I'm both happy and sad to be done. I was a little worried as I've had a busy spring and knew I had this couple weeks to finish... now my sewing room looks so sad without all your blocks on display! I think my favorite part is showing my husband each block, he is always so impressed and loves seeing everyone's fabrics.

Quiltermomma- I know nothing about Civil War fabrics or blocks, after some googling this is what I came up with. I hope it is ok.

LJDugas - I think your color requests are going to be stunning. I was a little uncertain until I had it finished, but I think it is going to be a striking quilt. (I may be copying your idea for a future boom!)

Terriamn - I have to admit, your fabric inspired me to crack open a cold one while I sewed. It only seemed fitting. I made my son a beer quilt last year, so I had some extra fabric. I hope it didn't make your block too busy. I think your husband is in for quite a treat with this quilt!

Jayne love the block you made for me. Not to busy at all.

Sewbiz sure hope you don’t have the virus hubby and I had, it took quite awhile to get over it

Going to a birthday party this afternoon for an 8 year old. She is pretty much a miracle. Very few children with her syndrome live past 5. She won’t know we are all there but her parents and sister will love all of our support. They are a very special family

Great finish, Jayne! Those are 3 nice blocks. It is a sad phenomenon when all the blocks are done... but there's always next time! It's so great when our hubbies support what we are passionate about.

Joan, you are a wonderful and patient grandmother, teaching a 4YO to bake a cake! My first cakes were always from cake mixes in a box.

Ohhh, Terri, that fall must have been aweful! So glad you didn't break anything.
Jayne: Congrats on the finish! I agree that LJDugas will have a great quilt. Love the color and fabric choices. I was also sad and happy to be done. Happy to have fulfilled my commitment! I didn't want to let anyone down or be waiting on me, but sad because it sure was fun to explore different patterns and work with everyone's fabric. I will be watching for the next one.

Sewbiz: So sorry you're not getting better but very happy that you will be seeing the doctor tomorrow. Take it easy and hopefully you will be on the mend soon!

I have a Lot more patience now than I did with the older grandkids! I love that he wants to learn and do things. Im watching a Sewing with Nancy show on PBS..they are working with QAYG quilts and are embroderying them instead of quilting...not sure how that would work out but guess you could do each block with an embrodery then quilt them together.. Speaking of embrodery.heres a picture of my first attempt with embrodery. Its so fascinating to watch the machine work, tell you when to change colors, etc. just cant figure out how to make the machine thread itself..Ill figure it out eventually. Thanks Terri!

Sew, I hope you get over the stuff..its about gone around here and Im lucky to have not gotten anything but a cold so far!!. Didnt get to see movie..friend said his wife wasnt feeling good so we put it off till next week..more time to play with machine!!
