There isn’t a striped fabric made that can outfox Kasssundra. She’s the stripe tamer.

I have made neck ties for my husband for years, and bow ties for one of our friends. A few weeks ago I was at Hobby Lobby looking through the upholstery fabric (I have found cool tie fabric there before) when I found this cork fabric. It isn't a print of cork it is real cork. I have been pondering how to make it into a functioning neck and bow tie. I finally figured it out, they are "falsey's" since the action of tying and untying would ruin the cork, but here they are. My husband love's his tie and our friend hasn't seen his yet (doesn't even know it's in the works)

And here is a pic of my two boom fabrics half will get one and half the other.

My vision is to use my fabric as the background and add a color of you choice to it (that is what I was doing when I was going to send black and white still pondering if I am going to do that for the brown / cream)

So I go out to fabric stash to see what I could see, and OMG, so overwhelmed by my mess from last boom swap. I never cleaned it up from digging thru stash for fabric colors for blocks. Now what do I really want to make this round? I am going to divide mine into two different colors, one for each group since in both. Then I can have some blocks on hand to make a quick graduation quilt or gift. Thinking yet.

The cork ties are amazing! Still trying to figure out how they don't crack and break where you've bent them. And did you sew lining to them? Just wow.
I think Kass is the Stripe Whisperer.
I like those two neutrals you posted, Kass, and have used both before.

I did not line them, they are pretty thick and thought they would be to fat lined, especially trying to tame the seam. I thought if I top stitched the seam it would ruffle the edges. The cork has a fabric "liner" it is glued to. These will be for special occasion wear and will have little wear and tear since they are falsey's. I was worried they would crack where they are bent too, but they didn't.

Thank you all for your ideas, advice and encouragement. I am excited to join with some other new boomers this time. It is a bit intimidating as some other newbies said but I am looking forward to the challenge.
It is fun to see all the pictures. Amazing cork tie and bow tie.
Someone mentioned another boom thread and I will check that out now.

My uncle is native, and his "native name" is "Quiet Wolf Teacher" I have been wanting to make him a quilt for a while now just wanted to find the right fabric. I found this a few weeks ago but have been concentrating on getting the "Bead" quilt finished. I have the binding nearly finished on the Bead quilt so here is what I will be working on for my uncle.
