Thats exactly what ours does Sew..they close from 11-12 and that when I get my lunch break. There is always 3-4 people in there. I sometimes think the Postmaster doesnt want to get up and work the counter!
Has anyone noticed a jump in Joanns fabrics? I went today and they have a lot more flannel than they have ever had and they had a section that was $12.99 for several of the different ones..they were like chinese, japaniese designs.. Pretty but I passed.. Use my 40-50% coupons when I want that pricey fabrics. I saw the skelton head colorful fabric several have used..I love it but didnt want to seem like a "copy cat" either LOL.. Hoping my quilters husband gets back to helping her quilt soon.. Hes home but told to relax 2 weeks and come back. Said the cement really helped the pain!
A question just passed thru my head...how much looting is there on the outer banks during a hurricaine? They said thousands had left...its really scary.

We went to the Outer Banks over Christmas/New Years Day. Even though it was c-c-c-cold on the beach, it was still very pretty, and we rather enjoyed having the whole place to ourselves, not to mention the winter motel rate (less than $40/night right on the beach - woo hoo!). We'd been wanting to go for a long time. The more I kept reading about the area's problems with beach erosion, the more I wanted to go while the beaches are still there (!!), even though it's a 700+ mile trip (each way). So we went.
I hope the hurricane doesn't cause any losses of lives or property, but I also hope it doesn't further damage the beaches.

Finished! It's been a busy three weeks working on my blocks, but now that its over I'm a bit melancholy (and a bit relieved). Here are my final three blocks!
For Terriamn

For Joanelizbay

And for Quiltermomma

I'll get them all packed up and ready to mail post hurricane (Monday hopefully). I have two quilts ready for binding a Bargello I'm in the middle of and a long list of other projects I want to do. Of course, once my blocks return home I'll probably loose all focus and be called to them!!!
Be safe everyone.

Only have a couple left to finish this weekend. Cannot post pictures with my phone so I will be buying a new laptop this weekend and posting pictures. I have taken my time and worked hard to make perfect blocks. Should have mine posted Saturday evening and mailed on Monday.

Beautiful blocks, JayneW and Coullmills! I love Cheesehead‘s fabrics, too.
Moonrise, I was in the outer Banks one New Year eons ago. It was completely deserted but unseasonably warm and lightly rainy. It was utterly beautiful and I knew I was experiencing a rare and special event. I’d go again in the winter regardless of the temps. Amazing!
So, change of plans. Boom blocks from years ago are now up on the wall.

The first pic shows the beginning layout although those dark red squares will become hourglass blocks with white. . The second pic shows the colors much better than the first. It’s currently 60x60 but I think I’ll add another two rows to make it nice and long. Maybe just one row but either way, it’ll have to be quilted by someone else. Way too big for me to handle even with QAYG. I have enough of the blocks to make a second quilt...or to make it double sided. We’ll see. Some current boomers made some blocks you see.
