Yea Boomer!!
happy anniversary #39!!

we went to the Lilac festival. They are in full bloom now and it smells wonderful sitting outside. It is in a very small village and we loved the parade and people. And as always here in New England it starts out with a pancake breakfast with real local syrup! Two of those lasted me the entire day.

Arriving soon? Yikes I am still working on the Fall Boom quilt! I have been playing around with the quilting and using different quilting techniques with each block and practicing my meandering. It is not beautiful or perfect but it is a good practice piece for me to work on quilting and of course patience. When I left the machine last night I think I had 5 blocks to go! After that I need to decide on what to do with the sashing. To quilt or not to quilt, that is the question. The sashing between blocks is narrow-ish so could just leave it unquilted. Binding and done. My goal was to be finished before the next set arrives. Let's see if I make it. Hummmm.

What size is your sashing, WMU? I do QAYG two ways... One is narrow join where the block edges butt up against each other under the joining strips, so no need of extra batting or quilting. The other is a wider sashing (maybe 2") and the insertion of batting strips to fill in between blocks. The wider kind, I always quilt. I don't want the inserted piece of batting to shift around like it might, if I didn't quilt on it.

It's great you are getting more machine quilting practice. It will take a couple of days for your new blocks to travel to you, so I'm betting you can get your last 5 blocks from Fall done. If not, you can always leave your new package unopened til you do, LOL.

WMUT, just realized maybe you weren't talking about QAYG, but have joined your blocks into a top already. In that case, I'd consider the type of batting and how likely it is to shift or bunch if you don't quilt it. I usually do something simple on my wider sashings... narrow ones may not get quilted at all.

Hi Ladies, Sorry I have been MIA, I spent a stint in the hospital from falling down our stairs. I was carrying a laundry basket and missed the last step to the landing and went right over the railing. I landed on my back at the front door. I tried to catch myself and broke my arm. I had to have surgery and will be in a cast for several weeks. I got home Monday. So good to be home.
