Boom 32 Squirrels

Good morning everyone!
Sorry if I've been absent these past few days. Life has been go-go-go lately! Hubby came down with a nasty flu and was home for a few days. I love him, but I definitely don't get much done when he's home! Then we've been having to fight with our auto insurance and health insurance about his motorcycle accident back in April of this year. No one wants to pick up their phones OR the bills! But everyone wants our money.
But on a happier note, I have been binding up a few quilts I have finished this year. It's always nice to officially finish a quilt!
My goal today is to do a big bedroom swap up for the kids so that we can continue fitting everyone in! Alida has been sleeping in a bassinet in the living room and at 5 months old, it's time she slept in a room with a door that can close. She's too aware of her surroundings to nap with all the chaos around, so she's getting crying exhausted at the end of the day. Poor little Angel!

Still in Memphis... hubby is repairing the wall that had to come out due to water damage (the burst water heater in the attic). I have been painting and have nearly finished the kitchen. It's a fun, sunny yellow. Next on to the bathroom to finish the paint in there. Our bedroom needs painting, but probably not on this trip. We have been here a week and need to get finished up and go home! There are so many projects here in this old house (1950) to get to eventually.
I totally missed page 121 of this thread, so didn't see my block from Ibex. Ibex, thank you! I love it with the flower center! It's fun seeing so many pretty blocks again.
I certainly hope Ernie doesn't belong to someone else! Pulling for good news today, Janice.
Almost forgot to say how cute Alida is! Love the quilt she is lying on in the photo, too. I made an Irish Chain I Spy quilt for my GD when she was a baby and she still plays with it. The squares are 2.5"s I got in the Birthday Swap. (Another plug for the Birthday Swap...).

NZ, your baby Alida is beautiful, what a radiant smile!
Janice, I too hope that Ernie's chip had an error in the documentation. I can understand all of your concerns.
Great finish Ibex, love my block you made for me!
Terri, your pumpkin and table runner look great on the table.
Today is a rainy day here in coastal Alabama, the remnants of Sara are passing through. It's so gloomy and I find I have no motivation to accomplish much of anything.

Yes, I hope Ernie can be your forever dog. Cute little one surrounded by a world of squares. Oh my what a traumatic experience for your daughter, Terriamn. And Ibex, you have been pushing forward to the finish. Take a breath and plan for the next Boom.
I have picked out my fabric, and picked up a book of 12" blocks on a give away table yesterday. This should add more variety to my blocks for the next Boom Swap. Now, off to a Big Box store for one small item and several thousand steps of exercise.

NZQ, your daughter is adorable!
Ibex, thank you for the belly laugh! Me, buff! (Cue hysterical laughter)
Terriamn, I’m sorry your daughter saw that. A horrible thing we hope never to see.
Ernie’s chip IS registered to the previous owner but her contact info is incorrect. The Humane Society took him on as a stray and tried to contact her. The person who they reached said they did not have a dog. It’s believed his previous owner may be deceased. In any case, he was legally adopted by us and the chip company is apparently going to switch his chip registration to us shortly.
Hav, your package arrived. Thank you.

Janice, glad they arrived.
My OPLL is acting up and I am having trouble with my legs. Hoping this passes soon and does not mean another surgery is in my future. I just want to be normal. (Not sure what that is, but hate being an anomaly.

(I posted this on the Candy Board a few days ago. Now I'm posting it in the correct forum. Block builders, I need help!)
WMUteach, I'm still searching for the name of the block I made for you in this year's Boom. I definitely need a different way to record my block progress. I started out kitting patterns with fabric selections. Then what I did with the patterns after the blocks were wrapped up, I have no idea. I am deeply annoyed. I should have started making the blocks right away. I'm not happy with how a couple of them turned out but I ran out of time. My Virgo tendencies are giving me a stomach ache.
Question for everyone: So how to adjust a pattern so that there is a 1/4" seam above the point on the edge of the block? The pattern is "Twisting Star" on Quilter's Cache. I couldn't get my purple points to have a 1/4" seam above them so they could be sashed. All the points looked like the one in the pattern but I want my points instead of a seam cutting them off. Do you think longer and taller trapezoids might do it? https://www.quilterscache.com/T/TwistingStarBlock.html
