that stitch is called the blind stitch on my machine (singer) and thats what i use for applique too.
i think i'll be able to do the 5th set.
the balance of my quilt/handbag work is all for christmas and if i do 1 bag every week from now till early december i'll have them done in time and the quilts that are due can wait until after halloween to be done.

My hat is off to those of you doing 5 sets, heck its off to those doing more than 2 sets!
On another topic Klue...I did buy the Jane software but I haven't delved into it very deeply. To find out the required yardage of say the background fabric I will need for the sew along in Jan....will I have to layout the entire quilt in the program? And...now that I'm thinking, I'm guessing that we will complete ALL the blocks for that...and I would also like to do the triangle blocks (if I'm good enough to be able to do them). So...will I have to layout the entire thing to figure out yardage to buy?

well, you could either lay out the entire quilt and get the yardage required off of that or open the software to the dear jane home page, click on sewing techniques, then click on planning yardage and you'll see the examples of yardage based on how you want to make the quilt.

OK...thanks I think I'll do the home page route for now and order extra. I think my main concern will be the background. I was thinking that if I plan to use say civil war fabrics, I might buy FQ sets...or not...I'm not sure yet. I will check out what they say about the yardage planning first though.
