Fabric Postcard Swaps 2017 - Sneak Peek!

Well Hello! Let me formally introduce myself. I love to bake hence my name CookieZenmilk and I am from Massachusetts. I have many years experience hosting postcard swaps on the HGTV and CafeMom sites. While I have hosted the usual holiday and four season swap themes, a favorite theme has been Wacky Holidays, so I am bringing Wacky Back!

Each month I will post a list of wacky holidays and you will design a postcard around that day and mail to your partner in time to celebrate!

My swaps are open to all levels of sewing. For my tutorial on how to make a fabric postcard, please refer to the Tutorial section on this board. Step-by-step instructions with pictures. Just like Judith said, "It's just a tiny project and the reward is a lovely Postcard" from a friend you haven't met yet.

I encourage you to share pictures of the postcards you receive. Sign-ups for January 2017 will begin middle of December. We will be making one postcard. I will pair you with a partner.

Bet you didn't know Toasted Marshmallow Day is August 30th! or National Beheading Day is September 2!

Just when you think the world couldn't get any wackier ---- here we go! Sounds great fun, Cookie, thanks for picking up the baton. Judith's shoes are hard to fill, dainty as they are....

I was in a group with CookieZenmilk many years ago. Lets just
say that the wacky holidays were a BLAST to design around. One
of my favorite wacky holidays was "Left Handed Day" because I
    AM left handed.

There were LOTS of fun ideas. Don't let the name fool you. Only
    your imagination is the limit.

this is great. I had mention awhile back to do a wacky holiday theme. I love the idea.

There will be 20 wacky holidays to pick from in January. You pick your favorite and send a postcard in time to celebrate. For example, did u know January 8 is Bubble Bath Day, and January 20 is Penguin Awareness Day and oh how bout celebrating Backward Day on January 31st! Sound like fun? Sign-ups begin mid December.

Since I am among the unemployed again (thanks to onslaught of Bell's Palsy)
might try to join the postcard swap.

Of course this will all depend on how much vision I get back in my left eye.

However if I CAN'T join that I will be happy to sit on the sidelines and watch
everyone enjoy the wacky holiday themes.

Cookie so happy to stumble upon this swap. I have never made a postcard but have been wanting to and the wacky holidays is perfect! Count me in. Sometimes I don't find these swaps till after the deadline....will you be creating a new thread for it? I have saved this thread so hopefully I will see it before its closing date! Woo hoo this is going to be fun!

You might want to reconsider "National Beheading Day". In light of current world atrocities, it's not a good joke.

Isn't National Beheading Day when someone takes the sewing machine head out of a treadle base, throws the machine head in the trash to make a coffee table out of the legs, burns the wood parts and makes the drawers into boxes to hang on the wall with lace sticking out?
