January 2018 - March 2018 Table Runner Swap

    Hi Guys,

Welcome to our ongoing Table Runner Swap! This will be our first swap of 2018 and it will run from the beginning of January 2018 to 31st March 2018.

You have until the 31st March 2018 to make a table runner - the theme this time is... Two Colours - (this means only using two colours of fabric – but you may use different shades of those colours) – this will make you all think.

    Size of Table Runner

The table runner should be a minimum of 12” x 30”.
You can use any technique/ any style.
All fabrics used should be 100% cotton.
The runner must have wadding and be quilted.

    Sign Up list

There is no deadline so you can sign up at any time during the 3 months as this will be just an intention to participate. When you have made and are ready to mail your runner you can then sign up to the “ready to mail” list which is binding commitment.

But please remember that the only list that counts is the Ready to Mail list posted at the end of March 2018.

    Ready to Mail list

An initial Ready to Mail list will be posted around the 24th March 2018.
If you are not on this list you will not get an address to send to unless you contact me and get on the final listing.

MIDNIGHT on the 31st March 2018 – is the deadline to get on the “Ready to Mail” list

    I will need:

    Real name
    Your address
Whether you are willing to send international or not (Please consider this as it enables everybody to take part)
    Allergy info
    Pet and smoking information
    Email address

As long as you have a table runner ready to mail by the deadline you can join us any time!

    Addresses Sent Out:

I will send out the name and address of the person you should send to on the 2nd or 3rd April 2018. You will have 7 days to get your table runner in the mail - NO LONGER. If you are unable to keep this commitment - please do not sign up.

You will send your table runner to the quilter who's address you get.
You will receive from a different quilter than the one you send to.

This is not a partner swap.

Please remember that there are quilters of all abilities on this board and you should appreciate the table runner you receive as your sender will have worked hard to make it for you.

You are welcome to send some goodies in your package if you would care to, but please don't expect anything other than the table runner.

Please Note.... You must let me know when you mail and when you receive. Also, please PM the person that sends to you when you receive to say thank you and to let them know that the table runner that they have sent you has arrived - it is only polite to do so!

So come and join our fun.

    Hugs

    Caroline

I am in again too! At least, I hope to be! I'm going to get busy & get my runner under way so that my husband can get it in the mail for me if I'm not quite up to it. Having a hip replacement March 20th so will be pretty slow at end of March & probably not sitting at my machine yet! lol

I'm in too. Love the themes you've chosen for both runners. All the best wishes Sue for your hip replacement!

Good Luck Sue. I know two people that had hip replacements and they are doing so well. Hope the best for you too.

Hi everyone. I am going to make it this time. I saw all the great runners I missed in the last swap. The flu hit me hard the week before Christmas and four weeks later I was still suffering symptoms, now I have another cold. It has not been a good season but I am ready.

Here is a little something to enjoy. The lightest of icy snow just covered the ground like powdered sugar.

Well, not to make anyone feel like they are late ( which you are not) but I worked on my runner and finished it today. I been working for the last couple days on it. Just a few hours here and there. Anyway here is a sneak peek of it. My 2 colors are obviously gray / yellow.

Lovely teaser, Mary -- I love daisies. However, I see three colours - white, grey and yellow. Lovely combination. So just to clarify, we can use three if one of them is white? I have some red-black-white fabric. Would that count as just two colours?

Way back in the olden days... when I was in school.... I was taught white was a neutral not a color so is black . They are either absent of color or all colors in one. So I take it as being just 2 colors. OK lesson over. Remember this was over 55 yrs ago. I know things change. lol. Hope this is OK???? I would count your fabric as 2 colors also. Sounds pretty.

Thank you. It's still really early in the swap. Everyone has lots of time. I usually like to get started and done early to be sure it's ready in time. I tend to put things off at times. lol.

Thanks for the clarification. I know about white and black not being colours, scientifically, but usually in quilting, white and black are spoken of as colours. I'm on the fence about this swap since postage costs have gone up again. But if white and black are not considered colours for this swap, then I might use this as my focus fabric -- I guess technically it is only one colour. It's a 1 yard piece I've had for several years and I haven't found a use for it.

    Hi Guys,

Black and white to me are shades.....black being at one end of the spectrum and white at the other... with greys in between. So as shades of the chosen colour are allowed, Lawsonmugs fabrics are fine and Belfrybats would be also.

    Hope this helps.

    Hugs

I started my runner yesterday too - I'm still hung up on orange, so that will definitely be the main colour! I've had this orange fabric for a bit; wrong shade for autumn or Hallowe'en so this is the perfect time to chop it up and put it back together! Of course, I may change my mind as I put it together! Sometimes my inner vision doesn't translate well when I put it into practice! lol

Lawsonmugs, I love the look the yellow thread gives to tablerunner. Nice mimicking of floral pattern.

Caroline, thanks for letting us know what is what as you are the boss. lol. Really it makes it easier to pick fabrics as most of mine in my stash have 1 or 2 colors with white, gray or black. Thanks Beverly.
