We are here at the cabin for the weekend (well until Saturday).

The current temperature is hovering at about -2 with a wind chill of -18.
I am sitting next to the fire (in my usual spot).

Happy New Year everyone.

Welcome to the new swappers. Happy Birthday Karen! Happy New Year everyone! I thought I would answer your questions on Jan Swap. My fishermen do fish all winter. They fish for lobsters off-shore, drag big scallops (not those little ones), and drag sea urchins. They usually don't go if temp is below 10 degrees, because the wind chill makes it even worse. To cold and the lobsters freeze on the deck before they can be measured and put in the holding tank. Sea urchin also can't freeze. They have to truck them and sometimes they need to be covered, we have even covered them with old blankets. Lynnie this time of year we don't eat lobster because they are too expensive. Boat price is $5.00-$6.00/lb. In the summer and early fall boat price is between $1.50-$3.50. We do eat some when they are cheaper. We have to sell them when they are worth more to pay our bills. Boat price for scallops is $13.00/lb. We did have some for Christmas, we can't afford to eat too many of them either.

For those who want to learn to make socks, there are great u tube video classes.
My neighbor just left and should be in Florida now. I am freezing, guess I should have gone with him. Lol Every year the cold bothers me more and more. I guess it will depend on whose name I get, what I will make. Well, guess I will post again next year!

Happy birthday everyone with birthdays.

Karen the kitties in my avatar are in a quilt block I made for someone who wanted a quilt block to put a smile on a child's face.

I will have to watch some of those knitting videos Dwina.

Happy New Year! Hope all have a blessed, healthy, safe, happy new year.

Happy Birthday to you, Karen! I hope everyone had a safe and warm coming in of the New Year. We played card games with the kids until they couldn't keep their eyes open any more. 10:30 bed time for them, lol. I laid awake and listened to my three legged dog snore and heard all of the fireworks go off at mid-night......people must have been happy, they went off for an hour. Tired, but content this morning. I am looking forward to a wonderful 2015. DH and I will celebrate our 20th anniversary in March. Our whole family is healthy and happy, I have no real worries, (just those I make up in my own mind!), we are blest.

HAPPY 2015 EVERYONE!

Deb

Karen, happy birthday. happy New Year to all. had filet mignon and lobstertail last night for dinner. along with a nice salad and a baked sweet potato, my favorite and a piece of homemade cheese cake. was super yummo. we go to a place downthe block form us.boy, was that place crowded, but worth the wait, and faily reasonably priced. i'm still full from it.

waiting for the fun to begin. can't wait to mail mine, and see the goodies coming in. we get more creative every month. what a great, crazy , loving group we have here. So grateful all of you. I look forward to seeing you all each day.
