I won't be able to join in Feb. my sewing machine (the only one that is NOT
buried under stuff) has decided to take a nose dive. Not sure when I will have
the money to take in for repairs.
The MAIN thing that has slowed me down for getting my January card finished
is the machine problems. I am trying to hand sewing and kept breaking needles.
So I started over to try hand sewing on a single piece of fabric (my hands hurt
from trying so hard to hand sew ).
Cookie, I will get your card in the mail as soon as I can get the hand sewing done.

Oh Quilty-Louise your poor hands! I'm sorry to hear about your sewing machine. Too bad we don't live closer I have "xx" sewing machines (shhh it's a secret!) and would be happy to lend you one till yours gets fixed. I could NOT survive without one! I hope it's a small fix.

I chose "inspire your heart with art" day. Lol, hence the "A"....we are all artists at heart!

Cogito/Mary, I am glad you like it. I use to work with kids that had a difficult time learning to write, so that theme kept tugging at my heart. The center piece kept poofing up a bit. If I was doing that part again, it would have the iron on backing to it.
Mary's card to me was her first ever 'Fabric Post Card.'

QuiltyLouise sorry I don't live closer, I don't live anywhere near the North Pole -- I too would lend one of my machines --- JuneBillie what a lovely card, you obviously know something about the Palmer Method --- in fact I thought I read that they don't teach it anymore. Maybe that's why some young adults I know have handwriting that looks as if they've just learned to form letters.
Cogito, love your card, and so true. We need inspiration now more than ever. Your card inspires me to try some machine embroidery of my own (have only done hand kind) just as soon as I figure out why my embroidery switch thingy (mechanical Bernina) is stuck now and won't select a stitch.

Generally it isn't the switch that would be at fault. The mechanism itself has to ride on a rail or something and those get dried up oil in there and don't want to slide. I'm not sure what model you said you have. Start a new thread on the vintage sewing machine area or over at the Victorian sweatshop forum. Shoot a pic of the inside top of your machine focusing on the stitch selection mechanism. I had a Bernina that was frozen up but good and left it in the car in the summer time which is a no no but all that heat did make it move. But then the oil dried back out and I had to clean it with some solvent and reoil.
