July to September 2017 Table Runner Swap
#41
Welcome SandyFeet, we do give each other great support and encouragement. I have learned so much from these wonderful women.
I was just looking back at the runners I have sent out and they are all flower related. Sunflowers, poinsettia, apple blossom and roses. The newest one has assorted fall leaves. I see a pattern emerging.

R-Sea love the Table Runner you received, reminds me of the beaches in FL.
Belfrybat, both choices are great, I love Batiks.

A standard length dining table for seating 6- 8 people is usually 6' long and 36- 40" wide. Just a guess but that is probably what most people have. A round table that seats six is 60"diameter or 5' across. This can be helpful in choosing how long you want to make a runner or a round topper.

I just measured my dining room table and a runner about 44" X 18" is perfect for the center of the table. It is set up now for seating 6 and they have plenty of "elbow" room. I still have room to leave the runner in place and when I set the table I can use placemats. Maybe that might answer some questions.
To become a judge, not really sure Ube. I have entered several quilts, 2-4 each year for a while now. I have won Grand Champion twice, 1 st place several times, 3-4 2nd place and 1 year even a 3rd place ribbon. Never quite understood that one but you can never judge your own. Each county fair will usually have 2-3 judges, then they collaborate to determine a Grand Champion. The county called me and asked if I would come in for an interview. I went and through a series of questions they asked if I would be a judge. When you judge 1 county, I think word of mouth travels and then another county may call you if they need a judge. Each county and State Fair has a list of requirements that you have to go by when you judge and they ask that you follow those to the best of your ability. Not sure I answered your question, that is just what happened in my case.

Well folks! I'm finally getting back into the game! I don't sew with the blasted new knee but it sure influences how long I can stand to cut, sit to sew etc.! lol I'm so far behind on my projects now, I don't know where to start! I keep getting distracted with new ideas, so I don't have anything ready for the Fall Fair which is in 2 weeks!! Good grief! I'm curious whether anyone on this site, subscribes to the monthly Quilty Box? I'd be interested to hear your opinions. Coming to Canada proved to be extremely expensive so won't be renewing after 3 months! What say you?

Belfrybat! all of these fabrics would make a gorgeous runner! The Triangle Frenzy is usually made with a border fabric like the top one, but break the rules! They would all make unique runners!

Northern Sue I have no info myself. Suggest you post this in the Main and more people will see it. The swaps get more limited viewing.
