I do the same thing, now I write it on the calendar when I send and receive. JuneBillie is that asparagras growing? Do you need more?

Oh wish I had fresh asparagus. Tried growing it twice. ended up digging it up after 5 years of next to nothing.Some people I have as neighbors both have it growing and they mow it over. Won't let anyone come and cut it to eat. Such a shame. You'd think they would cut it and sell it. It's very expensive in the stores. Sometimes when a swap is sent early I forget I got that months already and have to recheck too.

That's why I only belong to two swaps. I find my head spinning just keeping up with those two! How does anyone manage with more than that???

Mary, I love fresh asparagus, so yummy roasted with olive oil and some spices. great treat.
I'd try growing it but what about the bugs. I bet wild is the best. no pesticides.

My soil is just to hard and rocky. I didn't have trouble with bugs. I made a nice deep ditch and put lots of good store bought soil in it and it still only did very little production. I bought older plants to get spears sooner. I don't know what happened.

Jaba yes so far it is alive, and hopefully growing. I am going to get some more soil at Lowes Tuesday to build the soil up some more. I need to pick up some mulch also. I planted me some yellow crook neck squash, and have got to replant in a big container. I am experimenting with some container gardening. The asparagus is in the ground though. My dad's apple tree will have a bunch of apples, and we are going to freeze a lot of those. (Take dad some fried apple pies)


I keep a calender on the wall next to me to keep up with swaps.

Yes!! So glad it's growing for you, makes me very happy. I have never had trouble with bugs and do not use any kind of spray on it, no pesticides here all natural. Had some yesterday on the barby, grilled with olive oil and garlic. That is heaven!

Mary that is sad, $3.00 a pound here in the store. JuneBillie we have apple trees too, want to share your recipe for fried apple pie? Woul love to try it. Bet it would work for rhubarb too.....sounds yummy. Strawberries and raspberries are on the plants, just not ripe yet, have been cutting lots of lettuce and spinach from the garden, thank heavens hubby loves salad too.
