I remember as a kid living here in Colorado that asparagus used
to grow wild EVERYWHERE along the roads in the country next
to the ditches/gullys.
It was free for the picking, of course this was back in the 70's.
Now days though I wouldn't trust it, but than I don't know if there
is still any wild asparagus left growing.

I started working on my partners pincushion last night.
Decided that since so many people seems to like the box that
I would just go ahead and make my partner one too.
It takes a "fair" amount of preparing the box before I can start
turning it into a pincushion. First I have to "sand" the edges and
surface of the box to make sure there are no sharp edges or
splinters after I do that than I need to wipe all the dust from sanding
off. Then comes the painting part of the box, that takes the longest
because I have to paint the inside with 2-3 coats letting dry in between
each coat, then repeat that for the outside of the box.
While the paint dries I work on the "pincushion" and emery sand cushion
since those are made by hand (for the most part). Plus I get all the little
"supplies" for the inside of the box gathered up ready to be placed inside
the box when finished.
Last 2 things I do before mailing (IF I don't forget) is take pictures and
sign the bottom of the box with all the info needed about the swap.
Now if all my local Dollar Tree stores would get the boxes back in stock
I have wiped out 4 stores and ONLY came away with 7 boxes total.
But I am working ALL this so I don't have much time to work on my
swap yet.

Is asparagus hard to grow? I love it, but have never grown it. If it is easy I would love to try then. Can you container grow it? Gee, sorry, don't mean to turn this into a garden forum. lol.... I always come and look for all the pretty things you folks are making, and read what you are working on.

Oh my goodness, look what I got today from jaba! Jaba, I love the pincushion, it is fabulous! And she also sent me a needle case -- I've never had one before, am so excited with this little extra! the fabric for the needle case and the bottom of the pincushion are the same, a beautiful fabric that looks aged. Thank you sooo much, jaba, they are perfect and I love both of my goodies.
