Stitch, those are pretty fabrics. I want to be SURE I am on the right page. So please confirm or tell me if I am doing it wrong. I made a trial block this morning to be sure my seams were right for the charm size fabric, and the way I read the instruction page makes the FINISHED narrow center strips finish at 3/4" since we are going out 1 inch from the center seam to make the cut. If not right, please let me know so mine won't vary and mess everything up. First time for a swap, can you tell??? Nervous!

Actually, when you measure out 1 inch in both directions from the center seam, that gives you a 2 inch section, finishing at 1 1/2". Of course, you turn your 4 patch and measure again 1 inch from the center seam both directions.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks, Jan. When I got up this morning, it occurred to me that I should have indicated 3/4 inch for each strip for a total of 1 1/2" for both. That would have been really narrow otherwise.

It's 2" unfinished width after each cut. From the center seam, measure and cut 1 inch to the right. Rotate 180 degrees. Measure and cut 1 inch from the center seam giving you a 2" strip. Do the same thing with the other center seam.

You should have four 2" unfinished strip units after cutting your four-patch.

Jane, I have mine ready to mail. However, I have been to 2 different towns down here and neither post office carries flat rate padded envelopes. What do you want me to do?

See if you can find the legal size flat rate envelope; kind of 'fabric' feeling thing. Otherwise, use your best judgment. I'm sure whatever you figure out will be fine. Sometimes the PO just doesn't want to cooperate, darn it! For future reference, ((you probably already know this)) shipping supplies are available online from the USPS.

Jane, I think you might be describing the tyvek envelope. At my PO it only comes in the 'Express' so it costs about $19.00 to mail, last I checked.

Ssnare, If you don't find the priority padded envelope, you could ask for the priority cardboard envelope. The cardboard is flimsy, so you need to duct tape the edges though.

The envelope I've used many times is this one:

    Priority Mail Legal Flat Rate Envelope 9-1/2" x 15" and it's $5.70.

In case anyone is interested, I posted the sign up for the June Chocolate Covered Cherries Argyle D4P.

Also, FYI - - I've shared some ideas with a few QBers for possible future blocks swaps. Toss them. Delete them. Throw them away. After the July Batik D4P swap, I'm shifting gears and will be offering scrappy block swaps. I hope you decide to join in the fun!

I was so anxious to get these off to Jane I packaged my blocks without even thinking about taking pics. Since I sent an assortment I wouldn't have taken pix of all of them. But, here are four that didn't make the cut. I hope you'll like them.

Here are mine. If someone sees something that doesn't pass muster, please let me know. Some of the fabrics have squiggles rather than flowers and if that isn't acceptable, please tell me. They are from an Asian Garden line though and all are metallic so thought they would work. They are pretty fabrics. The row on the bottom the fabric came from a QB buddy. Thank you.

I sent along a box containing three month's worth of swaps. Each one is 6 sets. I enclosed three stamped priority envelopes. That should cover the Asian, chocolate covered cherries and the July Batiks. I did not get my civil war blocks yet.
