What does everyone else use to weight down their pincushions? rule out sand and seeds (customs will seize them) I've made mine but it needs weight.

Will they seize crushed walnut shells? That’s what I use. I’ve also received one weighed down with pennies in the bottom.

Walnut hulls but if sand is not OK I am pretty sure that doesn't work either.

I sometimes use large washers. The yo-yo on the bottom of my owl pincushions contains a couple of 1 1/2" washers that I purchase at Lowe's; however, they should be available at any larger hardware store.

Thanks everyone. Yes I've used crushed walnut shells before but I can only get them on line.I'll order more but they wont get here in time. I bought washers today to try them and someone suggested ball bearings as well....I'll see how I go.
