Gracious! Ten days and not a word from anyone? Am I the only gabby one? I know most folks are tied up with Christmas preparations, but ours are minimal, so I can indulge in chatter. Anyway, I've started on a quilt for a friend...had to order some more blue, but made a couple of blocks to make sure I liked what I was heading for...and I think I do. Here is a preview. The blocks are just pinned to the design wall.....

Really pretty, granky! I'm still sorting thru my stash for inspiration. Nothing has come to me yet but I'm a bit distracted with ideas for my new home. Lol... But, I set aside a few focus fabrics to chose from when I decide what to make.

Beautiful beginning! It reminds me of my Trip around Nine I designed many years ago. I did make it up into a crib size quilt but never let it go. My grandkids used it when they stayed with me over the years. I also of course love love your kaleidoscopes!

I"ll add to the chatter granky! I designed this quilt about 2 or 3 yrs ago and haven't done anything with it. I'm working on separating out the quilt into 9 patches so I can share this as a pattern. I don't do yardage well so probably wont' include that. sorrry LOL but when I get it done it will be available if anyone wants to use it. no fees.
I call it my Fishies quilt LOL for want of a better name. Fish around the Fountain maybe who knows. It is complicated looking but it takes only one shortcut block. It is all made with my version of a Kansas Dugout block. so easy when you know how it goes together. simple squares and kansas dugout blocks. placement of the color is the key to the pattern. I didn't add any borders to it either yet.
The 9 patch is the top left corner of the quilt. you make these 9 patches and sew them together. the Kansas dugout is an easy one to make as you can see in the diagram below.

Good looking quilt Rhonda! and you're right, it looks complicated, but isn't. It's a shame I'm not into fish...maybe a baby quilt at some future date. Should be working on two of those right now instead of playing with the one I have started...but this one is more fun. Oh well...hope I have quilts for the two little boys when they arrive....
